In 2001 Mr. Naqvi joined Albert Van Ness to form Naqvi–Van Ness Asset Management (NVAM).
Prior to founding NVAM, Mr. Naqvi gained extensive investment experience during 18 years at Citibank Global Asset Management, during which he participated in investment strategy setting as well as implementation. This experience allowed him to develop insights on investor behavior and its relationship to potential investment returns. He is a keen student of the opportunities that arise in global investment markets due to the risk-aversion and inertia inherent in traditional investment decision making processes
At Citibank Global Asset Management from 1983 to 2000, Mr. Naqvi was responsible for managing portfolios for large institutional clients that included foreign central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, foundations and sophisticated U.S. and foreign high net worth clients. The portfolios under his supervision totaled nearly US$8 billion. He served on the International Asset Management Committee (IAMC) and the Emerging Markets Investment Committee (EMIC), which guided the strategies implemented by the institutional portfolio managers for globally allocated bond, stock and balanced mandates.
Mr. Naqvi earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and a BS in Civil Engineering from The University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Pakistan in 1980.

In 2001 Mr. Van Ness joined Ali Naqvi to form Naqvi–Van Ness Asset Management (NVAM).
Prior to founding NVAM, Mr. Van Ness was a portfolio manager at Citibank Investment Management from 1994 to 2000. In 1994, he joined the emerging markets team, and together with Ali Naqvi, managed global emerging market portfolios for high net worth clients, pension plan sponsors, and sovereign investors totaling over $1.2 billion in AUMs. In this capacity, Mr. Van Ness led weekly investment strategy meetings, identified and implemented daily trading ideas, and supervised risk management for all accounts. He was also responsible for managing the trading desk, transaction flow, and broker/dealer relationships.
From 1986 to 1994, Mr. Van Ness worked in the investment product management area at the Citibank private bank, where he developed and launched mutual funds and US equity product offerings for private clients.
Mr. Van Ness earned a BA in Economics from Syracuse University in 1986.

Mr. Nayete joined NVAM in March of 2016. He is responsible for managing the Finance, Operations and Compliance functions at the firm.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Nayete worked at NBC Direct Brokerage in Montreal as a senior analyst where he analyzed complex data and implemented strategies to improve performance. Previously, he has experience as a portfolio accountant for hedge funds and has been responsible for both fund operations and finance.
Mr. Nayete earned a BA in Accounting and Finance from Temple University and an MBA in Finance from Penn State’s Smeal College of Business.
